Physically, silicone bushings are based on silicon, an element derived from quartz. To create this class of synthetic
elastomers, pendant organic groups such as methyl, phenyl, and vinyl are attached to silicon atoms. Different
additions of side chains can achieve significant variations in properties. Silicone o-rings have excellent heat,
ozone, and corona resistance and have good dielectric stability and resistance to many oils, chemicals, and
solvents. Silicone bushings maintain the best flexible properties at low temperatures but have low tensile strength
and low wear and tear resistance.
Silicone bushings may also come in a metal detectable variation, while retaining the same qualities as the general
silicone bushings compound. RUICHEN Sealing supplies silicone bushings that are compliant with FDA standards,
and are suitable for use in food and beverage production lines, as well as medical and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Both silicone and metal detectable silicone bushings meet FDA compliance.
